Description

LCoS chipset, lamp powered 4K D-ILA projector

In common with JVC laser projectors, the JVC NP5 features a three-chip LCoS chipset, which provides a native 4K resolution display. The NP5 is HDR10+ compliant and has an outstanding 400,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, as well as input and signal processing of H.264 video at twice the speed of the NX5 model it replaces. JVC’s Frame Adapt HDR adds algorithm-based dynamic tone mapping to HDR10 signals on a scene-by-scene or frame-by-frame basis, alongside a ‘Theater Optimizer’, which automatically adjusts tone mapping based on the installation environment.

The Large-Scale Integration (LSI) of image processor, advanced image codecs, and other advanced image-processing technologies on a single chip provides a 4K 120p input and ultra-fast video processing for gamers, with the bonus of a 40% reduction in power consumption. The NP5’s highly efficient optical engine generates an impressive 1900 ANSI lumen output – 100 lumens brighter than the NX5 – through a lens identical to that employed by the JVC NZ8 and NZ7 projectors. The NP5 features a motorised focus with 2x optical zoom, motorised lens shift of 80% vertical and 34% horizontal. Connections include two HDMI 2.1 inputs with HDCP 2.3, Ethernet (RJ45), USB (for firmware updates), RS-232C and a 12V trigger.
